Since 2011 I have been employed at Schneider Electric in the role of Field Service Application Engineer for the Power Monitoring and Control group known as PowerLogic.
This role involves extensive travel and startups of both Meters, Data collection computer and what are known as Switchgears such as the PZ4 and QED product lines.
These switchgear, when equipped with PLC ( Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI Touch Screens become a automation power control system called an ATO or ATS system. This allows the switchgear to monitor the incoming power and if power is lost it will start a generator system and land the building loads on the generator power.
This switchgear often included a computer and data logging software which provided reports and email alerts to support decision making needs related to the site power.
In most cases I was responsible for setting up the Ethernet communications from the switchgear breakers, power meters and transformer temperature controllers to the customer's network and computer. Often times this might involve about 20 devices.
I was responsible for setting up these systems and training the customer on the system to be able to use it properly.
